2x roles (Crown Prosecutors and Senior Crown Prosecutors) Permanent roles Clearance: BPSS Location: Office 2 days / week minimum - 40% onsite as a minimum. Various locations across England and Wales available.

Crown Prosecutors – 13834

  • Be a qualified lawyer or solicitor
  • Do not need a criminal background – any litigation background fine
  • Criminal training given – 17 weeks on job
  • Technical skills:
  • You must have a Law Degree or Common Professional Examination/Graduate Diploma in Law.
  • You must have completed a Legal Practice Course, Solicitors Qualifying Exam or Bar Vocational Course/Bar Professional Training Course and the relevant pupillage/training contract.
  • You must be a qualified Barrister or Solicitor.
  • You must demonstrate motivation.
  • You must demonstrate the appropriate level of legal intellect.

Application and interview focus

  • A demonstrable interest in criminal prosecution and public service.
  • A strong focus on continuous learning and the ability to apply knowledge of criminal law gained from study and experience.

Legal abilities and aptitude

  • Knowledge and understanding of the key concepts and principles of criminal law.

  • Academic: You must have a law degree, Common Professional Examination and/or Graduate Diploma in Law.
  • Professional: You must have completed a Legal Practice Course, Solicitors Qualifying Exam or Bar Professional Training Course and the relevant pupillage and training contract – or have received full exemption from the relevant professional regulatory body, either the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Bar Standards Board.
  • or CILEx: You must be a Fellow of CILEx and a CILEx Advocate/Litigator holding all three advocacy certificates.

Senior Crown Prosecutor – 13835

  • Must have criminal experience.
  • Few years defence or police/family tribunals etc.
  • Very complex Criminal knowledge needed.
  • Good opportunity if want to get into counter terrorism.

Technical skills

  • You must have a law degree, Common Professional Examination and/or Graduate Diploma in law.
  • You must have completed a Legal Practice Course, Solicitors Qualifying Exam or Bar Vocational Course/Bar Professional Training Course and the relevant pupillage or training contract.
  • You must be a qualified barrister or solicitor.
  • You must demonstrate motivation.
  • You must demonstrate sufficient legal intellect.
