Essential Qualifications

  1. CCAB (preferably CIPFA), CIMA, CFA, ACT foundations stage (stage 1) completed or equivalent
  2. 5 or more GCSEs, including Maths and English at grade C
  3. Knowledge of the major issues facing local government
  4. Reasonable interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with proven ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences both horizontally and vertically, financial and non-financial
  5. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and work in accordance with relevant rules and procedures
  6. Awareness and compliance with standards of financial control
  7. Ability to identify issues and resolve queries
  8. Able to explain financial control issues and related responsibilities to other members of staff
  9. Experience of working effectively in an area with competing demands and tight time-scales
  10. Experience of independently using financial modules in systems such as the general ledger and effectively using Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel in a work environment
  11. Ability to provide data for reports in a clear, understandable, and appropriate format for use
  12. Able to manipulate complex data to demonstrate trends and correlations
  13. Ability to extract and manipulate complex financial information to demonstrate trends/correlations
  14. Takes responsibility for delivering timely and quality results with focus and drive
  15. Managerial experience with a track record of high performing teams
  16. Promotes a culture that values continuous personal and professional development
  17. Works collaboratively with peers and stakeholders
  18. Creates a positive team spirit where team members work together to achieve shared goals
  19. Constructively uses conflict as an opportunity to generate innovative solutions

  21. A solid understanding of the relevant legal, commercial, political, operational, and social community aspects of a similar diverse and complex environment
  22. Practical evidence of developing and maintaining good working relationships with customers/stakeholders, developing a positive personal profile, and building partnerships

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Pass A-levels or NVQ Levels 2 or 3, preferred subjects are Business, Finance, Admin, and Management
  2. Equivalent experience in a similar role
