As part of an interdisciplinary team leading our work on end of life electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, and vehicles including tyres, we are seeking seven experts with a background in electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, end of life vehicles, and tyres to shape the policies in the circular economy growth plan into delivery.

As the electricals and electronics expert, you will have deep subject matter knowledge and expertise in:

  • Electrical and electronic equipment, bringing practical insights from collection, repair, and recycling programmes; we would be particularly interested to hear from those with experience in the reuse and remanufacturing space who can think creatively about keeping electrical equipment and component materials in circulation for longer.

While we are most interested in you bringing your knowledge and expertise to our work, we would expect secondees to be able to demonstrate an aptitude for:

  • Developing policy proposals: define the issue to be addressed, devise options, source an evidence base, engage stakeholders, and recommend a preferred option, all involving preparation of papers and presentations;
  • Thinking strategically and programmatically: situate their individual work within the context of a wider programme, and contribute to defining the long‑term goal of the wider programme;
  • Working collaboratively: we are an interdisciplinary directorate and have a one‑team ethos;
  • Innovating: we are open to, and want our secondees to bring, new ideas and constructive challenge to our work.

You will also be required to upskill the Civil Servants you work with by sharing your knowledge and expertise while here.
