Experience:
- This grade is appropriate to a solicitor/barrister with a minimum of five years post qualification experience, which have been spent practising in at least three relevant areas of law.
- 5 years’ experience of legal work in general and giving advice to a wide range of stakeholders at a high level.
- Strong intellectual problem‑solving abilities, including the ability to weigh arguments and substantiate judgments.
- Experience and ability to rapidly understand the working environment of the departments and other clients served and to work creatively to meet the business objectives of those departments and clients.
- Ability to function independently, take responsibility for own work and make important decisions without supervision.
- Ability and expertise in the relevant area of law to supervise the work of other lawyers within the team.
- Strong experience of handling and prioritising a varied and complex caseload and resolving a wide range of legal problems.
- A good knowledge of the framework of local government.
- Strong successful experience of working in Court and/or Tribunals.
- Strong diagnostic skills leading to sound judgement and decision making.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong levels of commercial acumen, understanding the commercial and community impact.
- Fully Qualified solicitor/barrister with a Law degree or equivalent.
