Position Details Title: Senior Planning Officer / Planning Professional Pay rate: Please ask for spec! IR35 Status: Senior Planning Officer is Inside IR35, Planning Professional is Outside IR35 Contract Length: Until October 2025 (Senior Planning Officer) & approximately 8 weeks (Planning Professional) Location: County Hall, PR1 8RE, Lancashire Senior Planning Officer Job purpose and scope: The post holder will undertake development management duties including dealing with planning applications for minerals and waste management operations and development, providing pre-application advice, input into NSIP projects, and enforcement of planning control. There will also be scope to input into planning policy work, including reviewing the minerals and waste local plan. Experience: At least three years\’ experience in town and country planning, either in development management or planning policy. Experience of minerals and waste development management. Knowledge, skills & abilities: Knowledge of minerals and waste industries and environmental issues, excellent report writing, analytical skills, ability to work under pressure, excellent communication skills, knowledge of relevant national policies, enforcement procedures, and local plan processes. Ability to visit sites physically. Qualifications: Degree (or working towards) in town and country planning, geography, or related environmental discipline. This is an essential car user post: Full UK driving license, vehicle for work, insured for business use. Consideration may be given to applicants unable to drive due to disability. Performance Indicators: Determination times for planning applications, investigation of breaches, and local plan preparation. Planning Professional Job Overview: Provide an independent review of enforcement and planning approach across the County. Assist in redesigning the planning function to be future-ready, without redesigning the entire service.
