The Opportunity
In this role, you will design and implement individualised athletic development programs and conduct group training sessions tailored to each squad’s needs. Your expertise will also play a crucial role in injury rehabilitation, collaborating closely with our physiotherapists to ensure players are fit and ready to return to training. Additionally, you will spearhead our fitness testing initiatives, using data to refine training strategies and support both individual and team performance. You’ll also contribute to the development of a proactive activation and prehabilitation program, ensuring our athletes are prepared for both training and competition.
In this position, you will maintain a comprehensive database to track all training activities and athlete progress, adhering to The FA’s standards and professional guidelines. Your communication skills will be essential as you engage with players and their families regarding physical development, injury prevention, and nutrition. By contributing to our Academy blueprint, you will ensure that strength and conditioning provisions align seamlessly with our football program. Collaboration is key; you will actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and embrace ongoing professional development opportunities alongside our Head of Performance and Medical staff, ensuring your skills remain sharp and relevant in this ever-evolving field.
What We Ask For
A BSc in Sports Science or a related discipline is a must, along with a valid FA DBS and an FA Safeguarding Children certification. Additionally, possessing a full UK driving license is essential for this position, ensuring you can travel as needed to support our athletes effectively.
While we have specific requirements, we also appreciate candidates who bring extra qualifications to the table. Ideally, you should be a UKAD Clean Sport Advisor or be actively working toward that status. Holding an MSc in Strength and Conditioning or a related postgraduate qualification is highly desirable. Furthermore, we value those with a UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) or ASCC accreditation, or who are in the process of obtaining these credentials. Additional S&C qualifications, such as NSCA, BWLA, or FA Level 3, will make your application stand out, as will being a BASES Accredited Sport Scientist. Your commitment to professional growth and excellence in sports science will help us achieve our goals together.
Given the nature of this role, you will also need to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check.
