Engagement: Undergraduate Work Placement Location: The Nigel Doughty Academy, Nottingham, NG2 7SR Working Arrangements: On site Reporting to: Academy Head of Performance & Medical Placement Term: 26/27 Season

Role Overview: You will help develop and deliver the performance nutrition strategy with our Academy and Women’s teams providing high level, evidence based nutritional support that optimises performance while ensuring an appropriate support and education programme is provided at each phase. We will provide support throughout your placement and the opportunity to experience and understand other areas of the business. The role will be varied and requires a hardworking, conscientious and flexible team player who is eager to gain first hand invaluable experience within a Premier League Football Club’s Category One Academy and Professional Women’s environment.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and delivery of individual diet and nutrition programmes for players that aligns to the requirements of the Elite Player Performance Programme (EPPP).
  • Assist with insights of nutritional support for injury and rehabilitation programmes for adult and youth players, in conjunction with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
  • Support with the implementation of innovative and evidence-based nutrition curriculum and education sessions and resources to increase nutrition knowledge throughout the Academy and Women’s levels for players, parents and colleagues.
  • In conjunction with the MDT, assist with player fitness and strength development, and body composition through nutritional interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with the MDT on the development of each player as part of the 6-12 weekly multidisciplinary review process.
  • Support match days as directed to assist/implement nutritional provision and provide post-game recovery support where appropriate.
  • Maintain records of all nutrition interventions and track measurable outcomes linked to nutritional practices (body composition, nutritional knowledge, anti-doping awareness, hydration etc.).
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and catering staff to ensure adequate food service and provision aligning with nutritional requirements on training and match days.
  • Assist with relevant stock checks for supplements and provide updates for relevant orders.

The Candidate:

  • A strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential for this role alongside a willingness to learn and a passion for a career in the environment.
  • Be an Undergraduate student in the placement year of Nutrition, Sport and Exercise Science, Sports Nutrition, Dietetics or a similar course.
  • Due to the nature of the role, there is an expectation to be available to attend weekend and evening activity on a regular basis.

General Information:

  • The candidate must keep up to date with new methods, and undertake any internal or external training sessions in association with the club.
  • Due to the nature of the role, the candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Prior to starting, the successful candidate will have an enhanced DBS check which will be carried out by the club.
  • As part of the placement, the club will be able to support the candidate in any studies or research projects that they might be undertaking as part of their academic studies. These include, but aren’t limited to: Final projects, Professional practice pieces, Contemporary research methods, Examining a professional environment, Independent research projects.
