Academy Senior Lead Physiotherapist in Burton upon Trent

Burton Albion Football Club is seeking an ambitious and experienced Academy Senior Lead Physiotherapist to take ownership of medical and sports science provision across our Academy from U9 to U18.

Based at the Pirelli Stadium and training grounds in Burton-on-Trent, this is a high-impact role at the heart of player development within a professional football environment.

You will lead and inspire a multidisciplinary medical team, delivering first-class assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programmes while working closely with coaches and performance staff to maximise player availability and wellbeing.

This is a hands-on position that offers the opportunity to work pitch side with the U18 squad and play a key role in shaping the next generation of talent.

We are looking for a qualified and registered physiotherapist with proven experience in elite sport, strong leadership capability and the drive to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance setting.

You will bring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a flexible approach to meet the demands of match days and Academy operations.

About The Candidate

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge

• BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
• Sports Science (BSc) or relevant qualification
• Registration with appropriate governing body (HCPC/CSP)
• FA Level 5 ATMMi F Qualification.
• At least 3 – 5 years’ experience working within an elite sporting environment.

Person Specification – Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrated experience working pitch side/matchdays at an elite level.
• Extensive clinical assessment and treatment skills with a sound understanding of rehabilitation process from planning, preparation and rehab sessions.
• Maintenance medical records, audits, registers and their confidential storage using appropriate software.
• Experience and knowledge of GPS data and it’s relevant to training load and rehabilitation.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with players, parents, MDT and coaches in a calm and professional manner.
• Demonstrate consistent leadership and management skills.
• Ability to work in a high pressurised environment with a flexible approach to working hours and job role at to meet the demands of the business.
• Attention to detail, organisation and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to set and maintain high personal and professional standards.
• Evidence of being a strong team player and ability to provide and receive feedback.
• Proficient knowledge of football, both tactically and technically.
• Be innovative with progression of the department.
• An outgoing and confident personality, with good interpersonal and social skills to motive the MDT team.
• Able to work using own initiative, work well under pressure and as a member of a team.
