We are working with our long standing client who are seeking a technical project lead to support their Steel Framing Systems division. The business have secured long term contracts and are seeking to expand to meet the influx of new projects which this role will support.
Role Overview
- Lead the full technical lifecycle of Light Gauge Steel Framing (LGSF) and Steel Framing Systems (SFS) projects from design through installation.
- Act as the technical authority ensuring structural integrity, compliance, and buildability.
- Eliminate engineering risk before manufacture and site mobilisation.
- Ensure seamless transition from BIM model to physical construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit and approve/challenge structural designs and connection details in line with BS Standards.
- Enforce strict design freeze protocols to control late-stage load changes.
- Manage/Support detailing teams and maintain the “golden thread” of information.
- Oversee temporary works requirements.
- Lead BIM Level 2 coordination using Tekla Structures, including bespoke templates and automated material call-offs.
- Drive clash detection and digital coordination across trades.
- Consolidate material call-offs and align design output with procurement.
- Conduct site audits for installation compliance.
- Act as technical lead with Tier 1 clients and resolve site-to-design issues.
Candidate Profile
- Preferable but NOT a must - Degree in Civil/Structural/Automotive Engineering or Construction Management.
- Advanced LGSF/SFS expertise with strong Tekla capability.
- Proven experience managing design teams and steel framing packages.
- Commercial awareness with budget and programme control experience.
