An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Operations Manager to join a growing industrial/manufacturing business with operations across the UK and USA. This role will work directly alongside the Operations Director, supporting operational performance, continuous improvement initiatives, and day-to-day leadership across both facilities. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, driving improvements, and leading from the front. This is a fully site-based position in Corby with significant international travel to the USA.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will take responsibility for driving operational execution, improving standards, and supporting leadership teams across both UK and USA sites. During the first 6–12 months, travel to the USA will typically involve 2–6 week assignments focused on training, alignment, and project delivery. Following successful onboarding, the role is expected to develop into an approximate 50/50 split between the UK and USA, with periods of 2–3 months spent in the USA at a time. Full accommodation is provided during USA assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operational activities across site
- Drive workflow, dispatch readiness, and operational priorities
- Support and challenge local management teams to improve performance
- Deliver Lean and Continuous Improvement projects
- Implement 5S, standard work, visual management, and waste reduction initiatives
- Create clear and repeatable operational processes, SOPs, and handover systems
- Support training and development on the shop floor
- Provide regular operational updates and progress reports to the Operations Director
- Help standardise processes and performance across UK and USA operations

Requirements
- Minimum 3–7 years’ experience within operations, manufacturing, engineering, or a similar industrial environment
- Proven experience leading teams and driving performance on the shop floor
- Lean / Continuous Improvement experience is highly desirable
- Strong organisational skills with excellent follow-through
- Confident communicator able to build relationships across all levels
- Comfortable working in a hands-on operational environment
- Must be within reasonable commuting distance of Corby
- Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis is essential
Package & Benefits
- £50,000 - £60,000 salary depending on experience
