The Role

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our engineering team in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer with a strong maintenance and fault-finding background, ideally gained within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding and repairing a range of industrial electrical and control systems, helping to ensure plant and equipment remain safe, reliable and operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical maintenance, fault finding and breakdown repairs across a range of industrial equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime.
  • Work on PLC-controlled machinery, HMI systems, servos and drives.
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assist with electrical installations and modifications where required.
  • Work with industrial machinery and equipment including, where applicable, furnaces, burners, forging equipment and safety systems.
  • Identify recurring faults and contribute to improvements in equipment reliability.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with relevant company procedures and electrical regulations.
  • Work closely with other members of the engineering and production teams.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A Maintenance Electrician with a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
  • Experienced in industrial electrical maintenance and fault finding.
  • Confident diagnosing and repairing electrical breakdowns.
  • Ideally experienced within a heavy industrial, manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experienced working with electrical control systems and industrial machinery.

Experience with the following would be highly beneficial:

  • PLCs and PLC-controlled equipment
  • HMI screens
  • Servo motors and drives
  • Furnaces and burners
  • Forging equipment
  • Industrial safety systems
  • Electrical installation and modifications

An up-to-date 18th Edition qualification would be advantageous. However, we are happy to consider candidates who require an 18th Edition refresher course if they have the right maintenance experience and skill set.

Important

This role is focused heavily on industrial maintenance, fault finding and breakdown response. We are not looking for candidates whose experience is solely in domestic electrical work or installation. Candidates from a purely installation/domestic background are unlikely to have the type of maintenance and fault-finding experience required for this position. We will, however, consider candidates from a range of industrial backgrounds, including automation, FMCG and other manufacturing environments, provided they have strong electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience.

Working Hours & Benefits

  • £19.10 per hour
  • £5,960 annual shift allowance
  • Total earnings: £43,210 per annum
  • Rotating shifts:
  • 6:00am–2:00pm
  • 12:00pm–8:00pm
  • Overtime available during the week
