An established organisation based in Sheffield is seeking an experienced Group Infrastructure Manager to lead its infrastructure and cloud transformation strategy across a multi-site European environment. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical delivery with team management responsibilities. You’ll lead a small infrastructure team while remaining actively involved in cloud architecture, hybrid infrastructure management, security, and ongoing transformation projects.
The Role
You will take ownership of the organisation’s infrastructure roadmap, helping drive the transition from on-premise environments to modern cloud-based platforms. The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and operational leadership. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll ensure infrastructure services remain secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of infrastructure and cloud services
- Deliver infrastructure transformation programmes, including on-premise to cloud migrations
- Design and manage secure hybrid and cloud environments across Azure, AWS, or equivalent platforms
- Ensure infrastructure security, resilience, compliance, and documentation standards are maintained
- Support Cyber Essentials Plus and wider information security initiatives
- Oversee Infrastructure Service Desk operations and business continuity/disaster recovery planning
- Manage infrastructure suppliers, risks, service performance, and reporting
- Provide technical leadership and governance across cloud and infrastructure services
- Maintain infrastructure standards including patching, backup, configuration, accessibility, and connectivity
- Prepare technical documentation, business cases, and project plans
- Promote cyber security awareness and best practices across the organisation
People Management
- Line manage 3 direct reports within an Infrastructure team of 6
- Support recruitment, development, training, and performance management of the team
- Ensure effective workload planning and service delivery across infrastructure operations
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to deliver infrastructure strategy and projects
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience delivering on-premise to cloud migration programmes
- Strong hands-on and strategic experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or equivalent)
- Experience operating within hybrid infrastructure environments
- Technically hands-on despite leadership responsibilities
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security, resilience, and governance
- Experience managing infrastructure operations, suppliers, and service performance
- Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning
Essential / Highly Desirable Qualifications
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Microsoft Azure Administrator / Architect certifications (AZ-104 / AZ-305) or equivalent AWS certifications
- Microsoft 365 / Entra ID (Azure AD) certification
- ITIL v4 Foundation (or higher)
Security
- Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus experience
- ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation or Lead Implementer certification (desirable)
Networking & Systems
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking qualification
- Microsoft Windows Server / Hybrid Infrastructure certification or equivalent experience
