We are currently recruiting for an experienced Inspector to join a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong quality inspection background and experience using Faro inspection equipment within a machining or manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out visual and dimensional inspections to ensure products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain high standards across the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of manufactured components
- Inspect products against engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications
- Use a range of inspection equipment including:
- Vernier calipers
- Micrometers
- Height gauges
- Plug gauges
- Surface comparators
- Digital measuring equipment
- Operate and program Faro Arm / Laser Tracker equipment
- Identify defects, faults, and non-conformances
- Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate quality documentation
- Support corrective actions and continuous improvement activities
- Ensure compliance with BS 8888 standards and internal quality procedures
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering departments
- Maintain health & safety standards at all times
- Time-served Mechanical Engineer preferred
- Proven inspection experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Experience using and programming Faro Edge Arm / Laser Tracker equipment
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Good knowledge of BS 8888 standards
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Inspection or engineering qualifications
- Visual Inspection (VT) certification or equivalent
- Experience working to ISO quality standards
- Knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes
- Understanding of GD&T principles
- Workshop and manufacturing-based environment
- Standing for extended periods may be required
- PPE required within certain areas of the facility
