An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Applications Engineer to join a growing engineering organisation based in Rutland. The successful candidate will possess strong technical and engineering capabilities, alongside a solid understanding of process engineering principles required to evaluate customer specifications and develop solutions for flare systems and associated ancillary equipment.
This role will take responsibility for managing proposals from initial enquiry through to submission, while also supporting the development of proposal tools and processes within the wider team.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and interpret customer RFQ engineering packages, design specifications, codes, and industry standards to prepare comprehensive technical and commercial proposals.
- Provide technical guidance and support during the development and risk assessment of customer applications.
- Generate accurate job cost estimates in line with customer specifications and regional compliance requirements.
- Establish product pricing in accordance with company guidelines and commercial targets.
- Prepare and manage contractual documentation deliverables to meet both client and business expectations.
- Compile, edit, and submit formal proposals within specified bid deadlines.
- Provide ongoing technical and commercial support to customers throughout the tendering process.
- Support technical and commercial negotiations to achieve commercially successful outcomes.
- Prepare clear handover documentation for internal project teams, including scope of supply, specifications, and budget details.
- Provide regular proposal status updates to management.
- Assist with the development and improvement of quotation tools and sales presentation materials using Microsoft Office and related software.
- Work collaboratively with management to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and skills development.
- Support colleagues across the business as required.
- Maintain compliance with the company quality management system and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Promote and adhere to company health and safety policies and procedures.

- Confident decision-maker with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel internationally when required.
- Experience within fired combustion equipment, flare systems, or related process industries would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with technical proposal preparation and customer tendering processes.
