The Role
We are seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to develop and grow business across the South East and London region. This is a field-based, homeāworking role focused on building strong customer relationships while ensuring full market coverage across a specialist product range used within the construction and metal fabrication sectors.
You will work closely with both customers and internal teams, including specification colleagues, to maximise sales opportunities and brand presence within the region.
Key Objectives
- Develop direct business with metal fabricators, installers, merchants, glaziers and builders
- Act as a key regional link to the specification side of the business
- Increase sales and market penetration across the full product portfolio
- Build longāterm customer relationships to drive repeat business
Principal Responsibilities
- Promote the brand and product range across the UK market
- Increase sales while achieving optimum gross margin
- Establish and manage pricing agreements within company guidelines
- Ensure effective and responsible management of expenditure
- Work in line with company policies and procedures
Tasks & Duties
- Manage your own diary to maximise faceātoāface time with customers and industry influencers
- Maintain a detailed Outlook diary of appointments and plans
- Provide concise written reports on key developments and activities
- Proactively generate new sales opportunities and selfāsourced leads
- Follow up and convert inbound and internal sales leads
- Prepare quotations in line with agreed margins and discount structures
- Maintain and update customer information within company systems
- Support colleagues to deliver a consistently high level of customer service
- Contribute to centrally held databases, particularly for fabricators and merchants
- Use catalogues, literature and promotional materials to support sales discussions
- Identify and report new market opportunities and competitor activity
- Attend and support relevant trade fairs and exhibitions, including manning company stands
- Assist sales colleagues with quotations and technical guidance where required
- Provide fieldābased technical and sales support when needed
- Attend meetings and training sessions as directed
About You
- Proven experience in field sales, ideally within construction, metal, glazing or building products
- Strong relationshipābuilding and negotiation skills
- Selfāmotivated with excellent time management and organisation
- Comfortable working autonomously in a homeābased, regional role
- Confident communicator with a proactive and professional approach
