I am currently recruiting for an experienced SHEQ Engineer to join a well-established organisation based in Middlesbrough. This is a key role supporting safety, health, environmental, and quality standards across a multi-site operation, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to drive continuous improvement.
The Role
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems
- Act as a point of contact for all SHEQ-related matters, providing guidance to internal teams and customers
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with legislation and company standards
- Assist with the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
- Support the delivery of SHEQ training, including site inductions and toolbox talks
- Monitor environmental controls, including waste management and environmental compliance processes
- Support the management of customer and supplier non-conformities, complaints, and corrective actions
- Maintain accurate SHEQ documentation, records, and compliance data
- Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, and environmental performance
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in a SHEQ / QHSE / HSEQ Engineer or Advisor role
- Working knowledge of ISO standards and UK SHEQ legislation
- Strong attention to detail with a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Confident engaging with site teams, supervisors, and stakeholders
- Willingness to travel as part of a multi-site role
Desirable
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health & safety qualification
- Auditor training (Internal or Lead Auditor - ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and/or ISO 9001)
- Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems for SHEQ reporting and compliance
