Salary: £15.22 per hour + Permanent Earlies Shift Allowance (£126.60 per week)

Hours: 38 hours per week

Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Supervisor to join a well-established heavy manufacturing business within its Machine Shop department. This is a hands-on supervisory role where you will be responsible for leading a team, ensuring production targets are achieved, maintaining high safety standards, and supporting the efficient operation of machinery and equipment across the shop floor.

This position would suit an individual with previous supervisory experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment who is confident leading by example and has a strong understanding of machine operation and fault finding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the Machine Shop.
  • Lead and motivate production teams to achieve safety, quality, and productivity targets.
  • Monitor workflow and allocate resources effectively to meet production schedules.
  • Carry out basic fault finding and troubleshooting on machinery to minimise downtime.
  • Support machine operators and provide technical guidance where required.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Conduct shift handovers and maintain accurate production records.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased operational efficiency.
  • Assist with training and development of team members.
  • Liaise with maintenance, production planning, and management teams to ensure smooth operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering or manufacturing discipline.
  • IOSH qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or team leader position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating industrial machinery and carrying out fault finding activities.
  • Strong understanding of production processes within a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
