We are currently seeking an experienced In-House Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and growing industrial site. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and hands-on engineer looking for a stable role with responsibility across maintenance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Salary: £36,000 per annum (equivalent to £18.77 per hour), based on 37.5 hours per week. Flexibility is required, including attendance for call-outs where necessary.
Key responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining a proactive maintenance service schedule in line with all listed company equipment and ensuring servicing is completed in accordance with recommended intervals.
- Arranging statutory inspections with approved providers for cranes, lifting equipment, fire and security systems.
- Responding to onsite equipment breakdowns including cranes, saws, heavy plant equipment and FLTs, and carrying out PAT testing in line with industry guidelines.
- Carrying out general repairs as required and keeping your line manager informed of breakdowns, providing estimated timeframes for equipment to be returned to full operation.
- Ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, working in line with Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures and company guidelines.
- Reporting accidents or near misses involving equipment, identifying any additional training requirements, maintaining a clean and hazard-free storage area, and liaising with contractors to ensure compliance with site safety standards.
- Gaining a basic understanding of ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015 as part of the company's certifications, with training provided where required, and contributing to internal and external audit processes.
- Working with crane and saw service teams to develop and manage critical spare parts lists, producing an annual maintenance spend forecast in line with the approved budget.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date maintenance records in accordance with QA policies.
- Carrying out other duties appropriate to your training as requested by your line manager or Depot Manager, and attending meetings as required.
Required qualifications and skills:
- Valid electrical qualification to NVQ Level 3, along with the 2391 Testing and Inspection qualification.
- Industrial site experience desirable; general handyman and maintenance experience.
- Valid IPAF licence and EET/PAT training.
- Welding certification advantageous.
- IT literacy, comfortable using Excel, Word and cloud-based safety systems for documenting and managing maintenance assets.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with a flexible approach to working hours.
