About the Role
We’re recruiting an experienced Crane and Heavy Plant Operator to work within a busy metal recycling and materials handling environment. You’ll play a vital part in daily site operations, safely moving, loading and organising metals and materials around the yard.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate overhead cranes, grab cranes or material handlers to move ferrous and non-ferrous metals safely and efficiently across the site.
- Operate heavy plant equipment (e.g., excavators, telehandlers, material handlers), maintaining control and precision throughout your shift.
- Perform pre-use inspections and basic maintenance checks on plant and lifting equipment.
- Load and unload deliveries, keeping materials sorted and in the correct areas for processing.
- Work with the yard team to support smooth logistic flows and assist with general yard duties.
- Ensure all activities are carried out with a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental best practice.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience operating industrial cranes and heavy plant machinery in a yard, recycling or heavy industry setting.
- Relevant operator certifications (such as NPORS, CPCS or equivalent) are advantageous.
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
- Ability to work structured 10-hour shifts reliably and consistently.
