We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Team Leader to join a busy manufacturing environment. This is a key leadership position responsible for the day-to-day management and direction of the maintenance team. The successful candidate will use their strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to coordinate maintenance activities, minimise downtime and ensure the team consistently delivers high standards of safety, quality and performance.
The role will suit a technically strong maintenance professional who is ready to take the next step into a leadership position, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the maintenance team on a day-to-day basis.
- Prioritise maintenance activities and allocate work to ensure operational targets are achieved.
- Manage the maintenance system to ensure all work is accurately recorded and repairs are completed within required timescales.
- Raise and manage maintenance work orders.
- Provide technical guidance, support and direction to the maintenance team.
- Monitor the quality and standard of maintenance work completed.
- Manage critical spare parts and ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.
- Attend relevant meetings and communicate key information and updates to the maintenance team.
- Take responsibility for day-to-day health and safety management within the team.
- Support day-to-day people management, including return-to-work meetings and performance management.
- Drive and support continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance function.
- Lead effective problem-solving to identify and resolve equipment and operational issues.
- Work closely with other departments to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Strong technical maintenance experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- A proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and team management skills.
- A commitment to health and safety and maintaining high standards of work.
- Experience with maintenance management systems would be advantageous.
- A recognised leadership qualification is desirable.
