An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join a successful manufacturing business. The main purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the cost-effective procurement and delivery of quality goods and services to meet operational requirements.
This role would suit someone with experience in purchasing, a strong understanding of metal products, and proven negotiation skills.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing the purchasing function effectively, ensuring robust systems are in place to purchase the right products and services at the right time, achieving the best value and service from suppliers.
- Analysing purchasing data, preparing reports, and presenting insights to managers to improve purchasing performance.
- Supporting the maintenance of ISO 9001 accreditation, particularly ensuring material test certification processes remain robust and reliable.
- Conducting supplier assessments to drive improvement and ensure compliance with quality processes.
- Managing and negotiating with key suppliers and subcontractors, developing strong relationships to maintain a reliable, cost-effective, high-quality supply base.
- Reviewing supply chain processes and internal procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Identifying and sourcing new suppliers to enhance capability and provide alternative sourcing options.
- Maintaining purchasing processes and procedures across the site.
- Managing and maintaining stock levels of standard raw materials.
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required.
What you’ll need to succeed
Need to know
- Knowledge of non ferrous metals
- Experience maintaining effective stock control systems.
- Experience operating within a computerised MRP system.
- Understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001.
- Competence using Microsoft Office software.
Need to have
- Proven experience working in purchasing
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Strong mathematical ability.
- Good IT skills.
- Strong analytical skills with experience working with data.
- Commercial awareness.
What’s on offer?
- £40,000 to £50,000 per annum (Competitive salary)
- Working Hours: 8am – 5pm (Monday to Thursday) & 8am – 1pm (Friday)
