Well established business consultancy seeks DevOps Engineer / SysAdmin to join a small team and lead production systems administration and DevOps tasks relating to one of its core industry data insight platforms. With multiple facets and integrations to the system, the DevOps Engineer / SysAdmin will manage applications deployed in a range of environments but primarily focused on AWS and IBM Cloud.
Utilising a range of skills you will:
- Support production Linux / RHEL infrastructure and associated applications ensuring high availability
- Configure infrastructure environments for automation/orchestration; optimise for efficiency
- Conduct root-cause analysis of application and infrastructure faults and resolve technical problems
- Perform system upgrades across infrastructure, database and containerisation technologies
- Spin up server environments utilising automation tools such as Salt, Puppet, Chef, Terraform
- Manage AWS and IBM Cloud environments using Shell Scripting techniques and core Java where applicable
- Configure web servers and containerisation tech including Apache, Tomcat, Docker, Kubernetes
We are searching for candidates who:
- Possess strong Linux Systems Administration skills and experience: CentOS, RHEL etc.
- Experience working with a range of cloud technologies including AWS, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, GCP
- Have strong scripting and management skills with a range of languages including Bash and Java
- Be comfortable working with automation tech for infrastructure and containers including Terraform, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes etc.
- Have worked with a range of database environments including MySQL, Oracle, Vertica (desirable)
- Possess solid core networking principles VPNs, Firewalls, Load Balancing
- Bring excellent organisation and communication skills and an awareness of ITIL
We are able to offer this role to candidates across the UK to work on a fully remote basis. There will be an onboarding period at the company’s HQ (local accommodation costs provided) in the first two weeks and occasional check-ins at the company's premises on an ad-hoc basis.
