QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years of teaching or relevant work experience
  • Experience with master scheduling, creating and building student schedules
  • Extensive experience working with youth, families, and community organizations
  • Experience in the development and facilitation of professional development
  • Experience in promoting equity and inclusion in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent organization, planning, professionalism, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of K-12 curriculum scope and sequences
  • STEM background preferred
  • Ability to support restorative justice initiatives

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Behavior & Emotional Support: Develop, implement, and monitor Positive Behavior Plans in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and administration. Assist with student accommodations that come from IEPs, 504's, and Accommodation plans. Run the Monthly Student Support Process. Lead Tier 2 behavioral and academic supports; serve as a STEM leadership team member. Run PLC for the middle school team. Support classroom de-escalation strategies. Coordinate with the school counselor, instructional coach, and outside service providers. Support follow-through with student support, accommodation plans, and 504's. Assist in the identification of 'at-risk' students. Support transitions from 5th to 6th and 8th to high school. Keep track of middle school tardies, distribute warning slips/detention slips, and hold lunch detention.
  • Proactive Academic Intervention: Identify students at risk through regular data review (assessment, attendance, grades). Deliver Tier 2 small-group interventions in literacy and math across K–8. Member of STEM Leadership with Counselor, Instructional Coach, and Principal. Maintain an intervention tracking system; report progress to teachers and administration. Coordinate with classroom teachers to align intervention to core instruction. James R Ryan Scholarship liaison.
  • Family Liaison & Community Engagement: Serve as the primary family contact for students receiving behavior or academic support. Connect families to community resources, translate school communications. Lead proactive outreach for at-risk students; facilitate home-school communication plans. Support parent engagement events and help reduce barriers to family involvement. Career Connect Team Lead. Attend PTG meetings and support high parent engagement. Creation and implementation of student academic contracts. Conduct orientation activities for students new to the school. Communicate with families about the importance of regular school attendance and work to reduce the number of chronically truant students.
  • Building test coordinator for PSAT and M-STEP tests. Provide support for student success as they transition from the STEM Academy to Comstock High School. Provide professional development to support staff in curriculum, instruction, and assessment by teaching and modeling research-based strategies and routines. Monitor and schedule the implementation of the extension & intervention program. Work with staff to develop and complete continuous school improvement goals. Support department heads in alignment of curriculum and organization of ordering and inventory at the STEM Academy. Support inter-visitation protocols for teaching peers. Assist with building initiatives.
  • Professional Responsibilities: Maintain confidentiality. Maintain records consistent with ethical and legal guidelines. Participate on the school-based crisis team. Perform responsibilities in an organized, accurate, timely, and dependable manner. Operate within the established district and school procedures and policies. Attend district in‑services and meetings. Keep informed of current professional trends. Demonstrate ability to maintain a positive climate for students. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. Participate in building and district committees. Perform 'Essential Job Functions' as specified. Other duties as assigned by the administration.
