Our client is a leading food manufacturer, supplying to all the major supermarkets, online food delivery companies, wholesale and restaurant chains. They are looking for an experienced senior engineer to lead, plan, drive improvements and support engineers hands-on day to day.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Carry out both electrical & mechanical fault finding & repairs on high-speed food production lines, packaging machinery, automation/control systems & associated equipment.
  • Work closely with the engineering manager to create new SOPs, PPM plans & schedules for new production lines & packaging machinery that have recently been installed.
  • Leading a team of X4 shift engineers - support with training, personal development plans.
  • Mixture of hands-on maintenance & repairs with the team and improvement activities.
  • Challenging role, which would suit a self-starter who can monitor production line efficiencies, suggest improvements and monitor real-time data.
  • Ensure compliance of the engineering department - legal, BRC audit ready, Health & Safety.
  • Ordering spares, parts, inventory control, supplier negotiation, risk assessments.
  • Develop engineering KPIs with performance reporting.
  • Projects - planning, installs, modifications, contractor control, asset care management.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Must be a multi-skilled engineer - comfortable hands-on both electrically & mechanically.
  • Role would suit a dynamic individual, looking for a challenging role and growth within a company.
  • Must have previously managed a team of engineers - effective coach/leader.
  • Need to be happy knowing this is a growing site, get stuck in, hands-on with the team.
  • Must have worked in food/FMCG manufacturing.
  • Experienced in creating new PPM plans, continuous improvement projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering compliance - BRC, H&S, legal, food safety.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher qualified - ideally apprenticeship trained.
  • Analytical problem solver - able to think outside the box and provide effective solutions.
  • Effective communicator - working with production, external suppliers, OEMs, contractors.
  • Highly organised, driven, motivated person.
