Overview
Regional Accounting Manager – Location: Bristol (Hybrid). Fixed Term Contract for 12 months. This role is based in the Bristol office for a minimum of three days a week, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week.
We give you a world of potential. This role is responsible for legal entity accounting for agreed entities within the appointed region; including management of statutory accounts preparation, liaison with auditors, coordination of board reporting and regulatory reporting.
What you will do
- Oversee the financial control function with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and statutory reporting.
- Ensure the company’s accounting policies are adhered to and manage risk in financial reporting.
- Recommend improvements to financial reporting processes.
- Manage a small accounting team in the region and report to the Regional Financial Controller.
- Ensure integrity of assigned legal entities’ numbers reported to Group on a monthly basis through a Quality Assurance process, collaborating with Transactional Accounting and FP&A, and supporting Half-Year and Year-End disclosures.
- Prepare clear and robust analyses of accounting treatment for judgmental positions or complex ad-hoc transactions; document positions in accounting papers and provide guidance to regional teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure all statutory accounts and regulatory reports for assigned regional subsidiaries are accurate and filed on time.
- Manage external audits and the relationship with external auditors efficiently.
- Contribute to regional and group-wide ad hoc projects, including continuous improvements, group initiatives and transformation activities where required.
- Support leadership of the regional Financial Control team and development of junior team members.
What will you bring to the role?
To be successful in this role you will be an experienced and qualified accountant with several years’ management experience, ideally from a large, complex organisation.
- Qualified Accountant, ACA, CPA, ACCA, or CIMA.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, local accounting standards where applicable and the regulatory reporting requirements for the region.
- Understanding of month-end and other finance reporting processes, accountabilities and hand-offs.
- Experience developing robust risk management frameworks to ensure all risks are understood and controls are effective.
- Strong ability to solve advanced technical accounting and other finance-related problems collaboratively.
- Good leadership skills, particularly relationship-building and influencing abilities.
- Competent negotiator and relationship manager, with the ability to work with senior levels of the organisation.
