Our client, a prestigious international law firm, is seeking a Head of Platforms to drive strategy, innovation, and operational excellence across its core technology estate. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering secure, scalable, and resilient systems that underpin legal and business services. Working at the intersection of infrastructure, security, automation, and legal technology, you’ll lead transformative initiatives, from cloud adoption and platform modernisation to automation and security optimisation, while influencing the firm’s technology strategy at the highest level.

Job Type: Permanent

Working arrangement: Hybrid (60% office / 40% remote)

Office Location: Central London

Salary: Up to £145,000 + very generous benefits package

The Role:

  • Own the strategy and multi-year roadmap for enterprise platforms, aligning with business priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead platform domains including infrastructure (Azure), security operations, endpoints, data integration, and applications/DMS (iManage).
  • Ensure high availability, resilience, and performance across all platforms, including disaster recovery and continuity planning.
  • Embed security-by-design principles, partnering closely with Information Security on risk, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Drive automation and standardisation, leveraging IaC and modern tooling to reduce operational risk and cost.
  • Lead incident management, service excellence, and ITIL-aligned operations, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and develop high-performing platform engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture.
  • Act as the senior technical authority and escalation point for platform-related decisions and issues.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience within legal services.
  • Proven senior leadership experience across enterprise platforms in a professional services or regulated environment.
  • Strong technical background in cloud (Azure), infrastructure, endpoints, and security operations.
  • Demonstrated success delivering high-availability platforms at scale, with robust governance and service management.
  • In-depth knowledge of ITIL practices, operational governance, and platform lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Document Management Systems (e.g., iManage) in document-centric environments.
  • Strong understanding of automation, IaC, and modern platform engineering approaches.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, SOAR, and security tooling.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to influence at executive level.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, and endpoint ecosystems.
