An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join our Cloud Team. The successful candidate will work within an experienced team, ensuring that our cloud support services for large enterprise customers align with agreed SLAs and KPIs.
Hatfield, Nottingham or Milton Keynes (full-time in office). Must be SC Cleared, or willingness to undertake.
What you'll do
We are seeking a 3rd Line Cloud Engineer to support and deliver Azure platform services for enterprise customers. The role focuses on the operational management of Azure environments, working closely with internal teams and customers to maintain, improve, and support production cloud infrastructure across compute, networking, storage and native cloud services.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Azure services, a proven background supporting large corporate environments, and the ability to operate effectively within an agile, service-oriented team. This role involves contributing to platform stability, implementing continuous improvements, and ensuring reliable, high-quality support for enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure while collaborating closely with senior team members and stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform root cause analysis, investigation, diagnosis, and reporting of cloud-related issues.
- Monitor and optimize Azure environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve build, deployment, and infrastructure issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for security, scalability, and reliability.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for processes, configurations, and procedures.
- Develop and maintain scripts for automation using PowerShell.
- Participate in on-call support outside business hours (additional compensation provided).
What you'll bring
The analyst should be skilled in cloud management toolsets, including but not limited to:
- Hands on experience managing Azure environments across multiple subscriptions and regions.
- Strong expertise in Azure IaaS services (Compute, Storage & Networking).
- Experience with Azure networking: VNets, Subnets, NSGs, Route Tables, Network Interfaces.
- Knowledge of hybrid connectivity including ExpressRoute and VNet Gateways.
- Experience with load balancing and traffic management (Azure Load Balancer, Traffic Manager).
- Hands-on experience with Azure Storage Accounts, Snapshots, and Backup/Recovery Services Vaults.
- Working knowledge of Azure Key Vault, Certificates, Managed Identities, and App Registrations.
- Experience implementing private connectivity using Private Endpoints and Private DNS Zones.
- Exposure to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerised workloads.
- Experience managing Azure ARC–enabled resources in hybrid environments.
