Test Environment Manager role at Computacenter.
Computacenter is looking for an experienced Test Environment Manager who will join our Test & Validation Management team supporting major customers. The role will be UK based to provide support to secure customers.
Location
Hatfield, Nottingham or Milton Keynes (full time, 5 days per week on site)
Duration: Permanent
Additional Comments: You should already have Security Clearance, or the ability to undertake this. This role will be based onsite 5 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders and internal teams to identify and provision necessary environment for testing.
- Manage the setup and configuration of test environments, ensuring proper replication of production environments where applicable.
- Implement environment provisioning tools and automation scripts to streamline the setup and maintenance process.
- Regularly monitor the health and performance of test environments, identifying and resolving any issues promptly.
- Perform environment refreshes and updates to reflect the latest software versions and configurations.
- Manage environment capacity and resource allocation to ensure efficient test execution across projects.
- Implement environment monitoring tools to track performance metrics and identify potential bottlenecks.
- Identify opportunities to automate test environment setup and maintenance processes.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies or tools to improve environment efficiency and performance.
- Work closely with Service Managers, Test Managers, Developers, Test Analysts, and other stakeholders to understand testing needs and coordinate environment access.
- Communicate environment availability, status updates, and any potential issues to relevant teams.
- Provide technical guidance on best practices for test environment management.
- Investigate and troubleshoot environment-related issues, coordinating with relevant teams to resolve problems quickly.
- Implement incident management processes to track and report on environment-related disruptions.
- Develop and maintain documentation for test environment standards and procedures.
- Document writing / process creation
Qualifications
- Good understanding of product development lifecycle and testing methodologies.
- Expertise in configuring and managing various operating systems, databases, and network environments.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, VMware) for test environment provisioning.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and identify root causes.
