Are you passionate about transforming how developers build, deploy and operate software? Computacenter is looking for a Developer Experience & Platform Engineering Solution Architect to join our growing Cloud & Apps Practice, helping some of the UK's largest public and private sector organisations modernise software delivery through Platform Engineering, Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), DevOps and Developer Experience (DevEx) best practices.
As a senior member of our Cloud & Apps Practice, you'll work at the intersection of technology strategy, architecture and delivery, partnering with customers to design and implement modern engineering platforms that improve developer productivity, accelerate delivery and enhance operational resilience.
What you'll do:
- Lead customer engagements focused on Developer Experience, Platform Engineering and enterprise software delivery transformation.
- Design and architect Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native engineering platforms at scale.
- Facilitate workshops with engineering leaders, product teams and platform stakeholders to define target architectures, operating models and delivery roadmaps.
- Translate complex business and technical challenges into clear, implementable platform and DevEx solutions.
- Provide end-to-end technical leadership across pre-sales and delivery engagements, from discovery through to implementation assurance.
- Support sales teams with opportunity shaping, bid responses, solution design and commercial proposal development.
- Define reusable patterns, reference architectures and engineering standards across the Cloud & Apps Practice.
- Research and experiment with emerging tools, technologies and practices to evolve our Platform Engineering and DevEx offerings.
- Lead and mentor consultants and architects, ensuring high-quality delivery across multiple customer engagements.
- Ensure solution quality through design assurance, technical governance and risk identification across multi-technology environments.
What you'll bring:
- Platform Engineering and Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).
- Developer Experience (DevEx) and DevOps transformation.
- Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, OpenShift).
- CI/CD tooling including GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or Harness.
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent).
- Backstage or similar developer portal technologies.
- Observability, monitoring and developer feedback platforms.
- Secrets management and identity solutions such as HashiCorp Vault.
- Progressive delivery, release orchestration and modern deployment practices.
You'll be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, leading technical teams and translating business challenges into practical, scalable engineering solutions.
