As a Programme Lead in GIS Programme Delivery, you will be leading a portfolio for a specific part of Computacenter’s business – aligned to a strategic business partner / engagement lead function managing large complex programmes, along with less complex smaller projects / workstreams within a particular portfolio. Your scope of activity will range from liaising directly with the strategic business partner / engagement lead function to work collaboratively on the evaluation, initiation, through delivery and into closure of each initiative within the portfolio. You will need to understand and work with different commercial models.
Your responsibilities will include leading a team in a matrix structure and will need to work closely with the Head of Projects Practice. The role will include full responsibility for the management and reporting, including the finances of the portfolio of programmes / projects. Delivery of a successful project will include some or all of the following:
- Building and/or supporting your project team
- Ensuring the agreed products are delivered
- Effective communication
- Managing project controls (including risk, issue, dependencies and change)
- Providing a high-quality professional outcome to the satisfaction of our customers and internal stakeholders
It is likely that in this Programme Lead role, you’ll be responsible for a portfolio of initiatives (possibly spread across both Corporate Initiatives and Divisionally Funded) with an overall value from £2m to £10m+.
What you’ll do
- Experienced in the initiation of programmes / projects, defining the scope, agree requirements, coordinate and plan resource requirements, produce the cost model and necessary plans – supporting the strategic business partners / engagement leads / business in the creation of necessary business cases
- Accountable for the production of all required project documentation to enable successful project outcomes, including a Project Initiation Document, whilst following the correct governance and approval processes
- Proactively manages all aspects of commercial management across projects, managing the project in line with financial rules and commitments
- Create and/or maintain the Project Plan; being fluent in the use of suitable tools like Microsoft Project
- Produce management reports through relevant tools to provide up to date information on project progress
- Manage the project to the defined plan and control via change control
- Accountable for all aspects of central programme / project RAID logs – identifying, assessing, and managing risks and issues for the success of the project
- Lead meetings, workshops, and presentations to the stakeholders, developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships both internally and externally, in order to achieve project objectives
- Strong stakeholder management (across wider GIS and business), building a collaborative environment, with extremely proactive and positive communication skills
- Manage the relationship with internal suppliers and any third-party vendors throughout the delivery of a programme / project
- Compliance with the GIS processes and procedures lifecycle
- Leading programme or project teams, providing necessary mentoring / coaching and managing daily activities (leading by example)
What you’ll need
- Prince 2 Practitioner qualification or equivalent
- Good knowledge and experience working and delivering within an Agile environment (SAFe)
- Proactive work attitude and the ability to manage your own workload
- Good knowledge of information systems across several different business and technology areas
- A demonstrable track record of practical experience of formal project management and delivering successful IT system project outcomes end-to-end
- Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
- Desirable knowledge of service management and ITIL principles
- Highly desirable would be a high-level understanding of the following - Outlook, MS Teams, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint)
