The Registered Nurse - House Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of nursing services across the facility. This leadership position requires oversight of nurse scheduling, patient assignments, and compliance with nursing standards. The House Supervisor also ensures quality assurance in nursing documentation, provides reports to senior management, and supports the operational needs of the nursing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule Management: Oversee and manage nurse schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels and continuous coverage across shifts. Coordinate and adjust schedules based on patient acuity, staffing needs, and hospital requirements. Assign patients to nursing staff based on their clinical needs, ensuring that the nurses’ qualifications and experience align with patient care requirements. Make adjustments to assignments as needed to meet changing conditions throughout shifts.
- Standards Compliance: Ensure that nursing care and operations adhere to all relevant standards, regulations, and best practices. Monitor compliance with state, federal, and hospital-specific policies and procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of nursing care by ensuring accuracy and compliance in nursing documentation and client records. Regularly audit nursing practices to ensure that the highest standards of care are consistently met.
- Reporting: Create detailed reports for senior management, offering insights into nursing operations, staffing performance, and patient care quality. Track and analyze data related to patient care, staff performance, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Certifications: Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role. Previous travel nurse experience is preferred, but not required.
- Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills to effectively manage staffing and ensure smooth operations. Excellent communication skills for interacting with nursing staff, management, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment to address patient care and staffing needs. Proficiency with electronic health record systems (EHR) and scheduling software. Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining high-quality patient care standards and accurate documentation.
