JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical First Assistant (SFA) provides direct patient care and assists the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures.
The SFA practices under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, working collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the surgeon in exposure, hemostasis, and closure.
- Perform other surgical tasks as directed by the surgeon, including suturing, wound management, and specimen handling.
- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Participate in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care of surgical patients.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Adhere to all infection control and safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Schedule / Shift
7:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 4 days per week. Call every 4th weekend, 2 days per week.
- Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience in a hospital setting.
- Active Compact RN License at the time of submission.
- NH Med Tech License required.
Certifications
- BLS required.
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) required.
Experience
- Robotic Experience (Da Vinci Xi, Globus Robot).
- Spine Experience.
