Compton Group is seeking an experienced, proactive and commercially minded Head of Marketing to lead the strategic direction and day-to-day coordination of marketing activity across its portfolio of companies. The role combines high-level strategic planning with a hands-on approach to ensure marketing output is impactful, accurate, and aligned with business goals. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to market diverse businesses, providing a high level of variety. You will lead and support a remote team of three, who are all based in our offices in Chennai, India. You will be expected to spend at least one week every year with the team in Chennai.
Businesses to be promoted:
- Direct Tile Warehouse, which sells tiles to the public and trade through showrooms in Swansea and Cardiff, and online.
- Authentic India Tours, which offers tours in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
- Maydi+, a new skincare range based on Frankincense and recently launched by the Group.
- Compton Outsourcing, which to date has offered back office services only within the Group, but which now wants to offer its services to third-party clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement the overarching marketing strategy across all group businesses in line with commercial objectives.
- Report directly to the CEO to align marketing priorities with overall business plans.
- Oversee and manage the marketing budget, ensuring resources are used effectively and campaigns are ROI-driven.
- Evaluate new business opportunities for the Group.
- Team & Workflow Management
- Head up a remote team of three: Digital Marketing Manager, Marketing Assistant, and Graphic Designer (all based in Chennai).
- Provide guidance, task prioritisation, and developmental feedback.
- Ensure clear communication, efficient collaboration, and consistent output quality across the team.
- Website & Product Oversight
- Manage and oversee the process for uploading and maintaining new tours on the Authentic India Tours website.
- Manage new tile products/out of stock/discontinued on the Direct Tile Warehouse website, plus supervising the overall imagery.
- Ensure all website content is accurate, engaging, well-structured, and in line with SEO best practices.
- Campaign & Promotion Management
- Coordinate and review marketing plans for new tile launches, promotions and seasonal campaigns with Direct Tile Warehouse showroom and web teams.
- Manage tour launches, special offers and printed collateral with the Authentic India Tours operations team.
- Ensure appropriate promotional materials are created and distributed across channels.
- Oversee the monthly blogs and newsletters.
- Proofing & Content Quality Control
- Proofread social media posts and other marketing content created by the team to maintain a professional and consistent tone.
- Approve final versions of digital and printed materials before publication or distribution.
- Marketing Operations
- Monitor website traffic, PPC performance, and conversion data to inform decision-making.
- Conduct and oversee competitor research, market analysis, and customer insights to refine marketing approaches.
- Keep up to date with marketing trends, tools, and platform developments to ensure continual improvement.
- Public Relations & External Collaboration
- Oversee PR efforts and identify media opportunities using online PR tools.
- Build and maintain relationships with external agencies, suppliers, and freelancers to support delivery of campaigns and materials.
- Events & Representation
- Organise and manage participation in trade fairs and exhibitions including booking accommodation and preparing promotional materials.
- Represent Authentic India Tours as a brand ambassador and salesperson at relevant events.
- Recruitment Marketing & Internal Support
- Support line managers with recruitment campaigns by creating adverts, managing applicant responses, and scheduling interviews.
- Assist with sending tour itineraries and quotes to clients during busy periods or when additional support is needed.
Key Skills & Experience
- At least 2 years in a senior, leadership or managerial marketing role, ideally within the ecommerce, retail, or travel sectors.
- A track record of delivering high-impact multi-channel campaigns, brand growth, and measurable sales results.
- Proven ability to manage remote and cross-functional teams.
- Strong copyediting and proofreading skills, with a meticulous eye for tone and accuracy.
- Experience managing budgets, working with external agencies, and leading product/tour launches.
- Knowledge of professional standards, legislation, and best practice in marketing communications.
- Excellent project management and prioritisation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments and levels.
- Hands-on mindset with the ability to switch between strategic thinking and day-to-day execution.
- Familiarity with SEO, PPC, web analytics, CRM, content marketing, and affiliate strategies.
- Comfortable attending trade events and representing the brand externally.

Location, working patterns and benefits
- The position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with an hour for lunch, with a flexible start time between 8 am and 9 am and a finish time between 4 pm and 5 pm.
- Our office is conveniently located in Morriston, Swansea close to J45 of the M4.
