At Fire Safe Services, we’re recruiting a Fire Alarm Service Engineer to join our growing team. This role covers the full lifecycle of fire alarm systems, including servicing, maintenance, fault-finding and repairs. You’ll act as a technical point of contact, providing leadership on-site and mentoring junior engineers. The role also includes participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota, responding to urgent service needs in line with our 24/7 support commitments.

Here’s a look at some of the things you’ll be doing:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, fault diagnosis, repairs, full system testing, and cause & effect programming on addressable and conventional fire alarm systems, ensuring integration with life safety systems including sprinklers, access control, and emergency lighting
- Respond to emergency call-outs as part of the on-call rota, delivering effective solutions under pressure while maintaining excellent customer service and ensuring all work complies with BS 5839, fire safety legislation, and company health & safety policies
- Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers while liaising professionally with clients, site managers, and contractors to ensure service expectations, project requirements, and high working standards are consistently met
- Complete accurate service reports, commissioning certificates, and compliance documentation using company systems and mobile technology, while supporting system upgrades, remedial works, audits, and quotations where required
Can you show experience in some of these areas:
- Experience in fire alarm servicing across a variety of systems and environments, with strong knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems including Gent, Notifier, Advanced, Kentec, Apollo, Hochiki, or similar
- Comprehensive understanding of BS 5839 and relevant fire safety legislation, alongside strong fault-finding, loop testing, cause & effect programming, and panel configuration skills
- FIA certification (Units 1–5) or equivalent preferred, with ECS, CSCS, manufacturer training, or additional health & safety qualifications such as IPAF, PASMA, or SSSTS considered advantageous
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers and representing a business professionally on customer sites, with a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Midlands and surrounding areas
