We’re hiring a Fire Alarm/Intruder Alarm Service Engineer to join our team at Fire Safe Services, covering the Midlands region. You will be responsible for servicing, fault-finding, and repairing fire alarm systems across a wide range of sites. Acting as a senior technical presence on-site, you’ll play a key role in ensuring systems remain fully operational, compliant, and delivering the highest level of life safety protection. You’ll also support and mentor junior engineers, helping to maintain high standards across the team.

This is a mobile role requiring a flexible and proactive approach, with occasional travel beyond the Midlands. You’ll be supported with a company van, tools, laptop, and phone, along with ongoing training and development opportunities to support your career progression. The role also includes participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota, supporting our 24/7 service offering.

Here’s a look at some of the things you’ll be doing:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, and fault diagnosis on a range of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems, ensuring all works meet current standards and regulations
  • Perform full system testing including cause & effect verification, ensuring integration with life safety systems such as sprinklers, access control, and emergency lighting
  • Respond to emergency call-outs as part of the on-call rota, delivering effective solutions under pressure while maintaining excellent customer service and clear communication with clients and stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, while completing accurate documentation including service reports, certificates, and compliance records, and supporting system upgrades, remedial works, audits, and quotations

Can you show experience in some of these areas:

  • 5+ years’ experience in fire alarm servicing and commissioning across a range of systems and site types, along with strong knowledge of BS 5839 and relevant fire safety legislation
  • Experience commissioning and working with leading fire alarm systems such as Gent, Notifier, Advanced, Kentec, Apollo, or Hochiki, with strong fault-finding, loop testing, and panel configuration skills
  • Relevant certifications such as FIA Units 1–5 (or equivalent), along with ECS/CSCS or a relevant trade card, and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills on complex systems
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to mentor junior engineers, represent the company professionally, and participate in an on-call rota, with additional certifications such as IPAF, PASMA, or SSSTS being advantageous
