THE COMPANY:
Our client is a specialist alternative asset manager, looking for an experienced Compliance Associate to be part of their expanding UK Compliance team.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and assist in ensuring that the Compliance Monitoring Programme is executed in a timely manner and issues are escalated as appropriate.
- Be the key person for undertaking Best Execution and Market Abuse monitoring reviews, including reporting for, and running, the agenda for the Best Execution Committee chaired by the Head of Compliance.
- Mentoring, training and collaborating with more junior members of the team to achieve team goals
- Be responsible for updating risk assessments including but not limited to: Compliance Monitoring Programme Risk Assessment (aligned with all applicable FCA Handbooks), AML Risk Assessment, Market Abuse Risk Assessment, Fraud Risk Assessment, Tax Evasion Risk Assessment in line with business developments and risk tolerance.
- Develop relationships with all relevant internal and external parties (such as ACD, custodians and various fund boards and committees), to ensure a culture of continuous improvement
- Assist the business by providing regulatory guidance where required
- Stay informed of regulatory developments and how they would impact on the business, including the record keeping for the Regulatory Horizon Working Group.
- Carry out other duties and projects as and when required in line with team objectives
- In co-ordination with the AD, Compliance and HoC, be responsible for the training programme including assessing training requirements in alignment with the Monitoring Programme, as well as roll-out
- Assist with compiling data for management information including quarterly and monthly board papers
- Conduct AML/KYC investor onboarding and review of AML/KYC for asset sale or purchase
- Assist with the day-to-day engagement with the Sustainable Investment team, ensuring that ESG-related regulations are implemented within the business as appropriate including embedding SDR.
- Ownership of the annual SMCR programme including ensuring that SoRs and reasonable steps frameworks are up to date, training as appropriate and running the annual fitness and propriety refresh
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- The job holder will have gained around 3-5 years’ experience within the Compliance function of an AIFM
- Experience of UK and EU AIFMD regulations, including proficient and demonstrable use of the FCA Handbook
- A good understanding of MiFID II and UCITS, SMCR and private equity would be ideal
- Practical experience of the post-Brexit cross border distribution rules
- Practical experience of systems, preferably having implemented technological efficiencies in previous roles
- Excellent initiative and administration skills: proactively taking ownership of matters
- Strong verbal and written communication skills: externally and internally, including managing expectations proactively
