Fire Safe Services is looking for a fully qualified Fire Extinguisher Engineer to join our team. We are seeking a reliable and fully qualified Fire Extinguisher Engineer to join our fire protection team. In this field-based role, you will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, installation, and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers in line with BS 5306 standards, ensuring that all fire safety equipment is compliant, properly maintained, and meets both regulatory and client-specific requirements. The role is mobile, primarily covering the Midlands, with occasional travel to surrounding areas. Sites will vary in size and complexity, requiring a flexible and proactive approach.

What you receive for joining us: We offer a competitive salary between £28,000 and £34,000 per annum, depending on experience. You’ll also benefit from 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, pension scheme, a company vehicle, tools, and laptop will be provided.

Here’s a look at some of the things you’ll be doing:

  • Service, maintain, refill, and install all types of portable fire extinguishers in line with BS 5306 Part 3 & Part 8, ensuring appropriate signage and accessories are in place.
  • Provide clear recommendations to clients on non-compliant equipment or required remedial actions, while delivering excellent customer service and effective on-site communication.
  • Accurately maintain service records and asset registers, submitting digital reports promptly; keep van stock and equipment well-maintained, reporting any issues.
  • Work independently across multiple sites, following health & safety procedures and company policies at all times.

Can you show experience in some of these areas?

  • BAFE qualified (ST104) or equivalent accreditation (mandatory), with strong knowledge of BS 5306 standards, current fire safety legislation, and proven experience servicing fire extinguishers across various environments.
  • Full UK driving licence required, with the ability to work independently across multiple sites, demonstrating strong time management, attention to detail, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Desirable: Experience with other fire protection systems such as fire alarms and emergency lighting, and familiarity with mobile reporting tools and asset management software.
  • Additional desirable qualifications and training include FIA Level 3 in Portable Fire Extinguisher Maintenance, Manual Handling, Asbestos Awareness, and Working at Height.
