We're seeking a Floating Support Officer with hands-on experience supporting people affected by housing instability, homelessness, and related challenges. You'll work directly with individuals and families in the community, providing flexible, short-term support to help them sustain tenancies, improve stability, and access the services they need to move forward. This is a role for someone who can step in with confidence, manage their own workload, and make an immediate, meaningful impact.
The Role
- Deliver flexible, housing-related floating support to individuals and families in their own homes or community settings.
- Support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including those affected by rough sleeping.
- Help clients sustain accommodation through practical support, problem-solving, and tenancy-related guidance.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to navigate housing pathways, benefits, and wider support services.
- Build effective working relationships with local authorities, housing providers, and voluntary sector partners.
- Manage a varied caseload independently, responding to changing needs and priorities.
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience delivering floating or community-based support to people with housing-related needs.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals or families facing crisis or instability.
- Strong understanding of homelessness prevention, tenancy sustainment, and housing support pathways.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and make sound decisions.
- Excellent communication skills with a calm, compassionate, and non-judgemental approach.
Desirable
- Experience within floating support, housing support, homelessness, or community services.
- Knowledge of local authority and voluntary sector systems.
- Confidence working within multi-agency environments.
