SUPPORT WORKER – YOUNG PEOPLE & INDEPENDENT LIVING
We’re looking for positive, patient and motivated Support Workers to join our agency team, supporting young people in an independent support service in the Wokingham area.
The service supports young people as they develop the skills, confidence and resilience they need to move towards full independent living.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a genuine difference — helping them learn practical life skills, build confidence and take ownership of their future.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Your role will be about supporting rather than doing things for young people, helping them develop the confidence and skills to manage life independently.
You may support with:
Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
Helping young people develop practical independent living skills.
Supporting with cooking, shopping, budgeting and meal planning.
Helping young people understand bills, finances and managing money.
Supporting with cleaning, laundry and maintaining a safe home.
Encouraging young people to manage their own routines and responsibilities.
Supporting education, training and employment goals.
Helping young people access appointments and community services.
Supporting tenancy readiness and understanding responsibilities associated with independent accommodation.
Encouraging positive decision-making and problem-solving.
Supporting emotional wellbeing and confidence.
Helping young people develop healthy routines and positive relationships.
Encouraging community engagement and social opportunities.
Supporting young people to work towards their individual goals and move-on plans.
Recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns.
Following support plans, risk assessments and service procedures.
Maintaining accurate records and providing clear handovers.
