Scope of the Role

As part of a multi-functional, highly skilled, and flexible team, the Machine Shop Grinder is a hands-on role, responsible for producing parts to fulfil Assembly, Aftermarket and Spares requirements. Shift flexibility is vital to fulfil business needs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be highly involved in contributing to the entire manufacturing process, from engineering design, through machining to delivery.
  • Producing complex components according to specification requirements.
  • Working from and understanding engineering drawings.
  • Working and measuring to very tight tolerances.
  • Applying knowledge of materials and machining methods.
  • Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve targets and KPIs.
  • Experience working on bespoke parts to stringent geometric tolerances.
  • Understand, and always work in line with client values; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.
  • Foster RFT mindset.

Technical Competencies Required

  • Operating a large Coburg manual surface grinder with Siemens controls.
  • Grinding large complex components, using flat bed grinding and surface grinding.
  • Setting components, grinding wheels, jigs, fixtures, rotary chuck.
  • Working and measuring to very tight tolerances.
  • Ability to use metrology equipment.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Manufacturing components to achieve critical geometrical tolerancing and ensuring product conformity.
  • 4-year time served apprenticeship certification.
