Due to continued business growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Design Engineer to join a leading global business in the Blackburn area
The role will involve design and development of components used in a range of sectors including Nuclear, Offshore, Oil and Gas and Subsea applications.
This is a full time permanent opportunity with an industry leader in their field.
Candidates will be qualified to a minimum HND if not degree level in a relevant Mechanical engineering discipline with a demonstrable background in design and development of mechanical products. Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault is a must.
Hours 4 day working week
Key Responsibilities
Using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor) to design and develop new products from concept to completion
Updating existing products to improve quality or to take advantage of modern manufacturing methods
Liaise with customers to discuss new enquiries
Represent the company during customer visits or at trade shows
Ensure designs are validated using engineering calculations and FEA
Produce manufacturing drawings of components and assemblies
Peer checking of work done by colleagues
Produce supporting documentation including assembly and test procedures, operating manuals, CE and UKCA marking etc. Ensure that all documentation and data conforms to the company s ISO9001 quality system
Work closely with the in–house CNC machining team to ensure that components are designed for manufacture
Offer technical support to colleagues and customers
Build and test in–house prototypes
Education and/or Experience:
Mechanical Engineering qualification to HND/Degree level or equivalent experience in a related engineering design field.
Strong demonstrable background within a mechanical design role.
Excellent knowledge of Design and Manufacturing Techniques.
Experienced using Autodesk Inventor for 3D Cad Modelling
Experience dealing with and presenting to customers is advantageous
