Our client, a leading manufacturer based near Malton, are looking to recruit a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join the business on a permanent basis. This recruitment drive is due to order books continually expanding and wanting to develop new members of the team. The main work would be supporting the wider team with smaller projects, drawings, and testing. Over time you will learn more about the products and aid in answering sales questions. There will also be a practical side of the role to be involved in product testing in the test lab.
The Ideal candidate will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with some exposure to working in industry, however those without will still be considered.
Hours: Mon - Friday 0830 - 17.00
Role Description- Design & Development
- Create 3D models and detailed technical drawings using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor).
- Develop new products and enhance existing designs in response to customer needs and market opportunities.
- Prototyping & Testing
- Work hands-on with cross-functional teams to build and evaluate prototypes.
- Product testing to validate design performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Analyse test outcomes and prepare clear, insightful reports with recommendations.
- Operate and maintain in-house 3D printing equipment (3 off Bambu lab printers).
- Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure designs meet project objectives and deadlines.
- Present design concepts and progress updates to colleagues and leadership.
- Provide technical support and expertise to other departments across the business.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Produce and maintain accurate design documentation, including specifications, manuals, and compliance reports.
- Ensure all designs meet relevant industry standards, safety requirements, and internal quality processes.
- Minimum Degree qualified in Mechanical engineering
- Demonstrable experience working within a Mechanical Design role – advantageous
- Methodical and proactive mind set with a genuine passion for engineering and problem solving
- Experienced in use of Autocad/Autodesk Inventor
