Our client, a leading manufacturer in Irvine, is looking to recruit a Production Planner to join the business on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have experience in a Planning function in a manufacturing engineering environment with exposure to machining. Candidates will be required to create routings for orders and liaise with production engineering to coordinate workload. Candidates will ideally have experience working within a Manufacturing Engineering/Assembly based environment. Experience with Machining is advantageous. The business is also open to looking at a more junior candidate who is looking to develop a career in planning. Experience working with ERP/MRP Systems, ideally SAP, would also be highly advantageous. Strong Excel skills would also be ideal.
Hours: Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:30 and Friday 08:00 - 15:30. This role is available for an immediate start.
Responsibilities:
- Develop route cards to ensure the most economic and efficient methods of manufacture, liaising with the programming department.
- Ensure all documentation is issued to the shop floor in a timely manner via work-to lists.
- Work in conjunction with Stores/Goods Inwards to ensure all materials and Kits are available for manufacture & Assembly.
- Control all rework operations as a result of NCR’s, modifying route sheets if required.
- Participate in Pre-production Meetings to determine optimal manufacturing methods.
- Assist the Production Scheduler to ensure each work centre is effectively loaded.
- Provide advice and assistance to the Sales Department to enable quotations to be accurate in terms of cost and lead time.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in production planning.
- Ability to communicate with multiple departments to ensure OTD.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working with MRP systems is advantageous - ideally SAP.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
