Reports To: Machine Shop Manager
Scope of the Role: As part of a multi-functional, highly skilled, and flexible team, the Machine Shop Grinder is a hands-on role, responsible for producing parts to fulfil Assembly, Aftermarket and Spares requirements. Shift flexibility is vital to fulfil business needs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be highly involved in contributing to the entire manufacturing process, from engineering design through machining to delivery.
- Producing complex components according to specification requirements.
- Working from and understanding engineering drawings.
- Working and measuring to very tight tolerances.
- Applying knowledge of materials and machining methods.
- Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve targets and KPIs.
- Experience working on bespoke parts to stringent geometric tolerances.
- Understand, and work at all times, in line with client values and directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.
- Foster RFT mindset.
Technical Competencies Required:
- Operating CNC cylindrical Studer machines.
- External/internal grinding.
- Proving out on CNC cylindrical Studer machines.
- Programming (Studer Win), setting components, grinding wheels, jigs, fixtures, chucks and working between centres.
- Working and measuring to very tight tolerances (within 5 micron range).
- Ability to use metrology equipment.
- Interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Manufacturing components to achieve critical geometrical tolerancing and ensuring product conformity.
- 4-year time-served apprenticeship certification.
