Our client, a leading sub contract machinist based in the North East, is looking to recruit an experienced Business Development / Sales Manager to join the business on a permanent basis to expand their service offering within the defence sector.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience working within a Sales or Business Development role generating new clients and workflow and also managing client enquiries from estimating, technical discussions, bid management through to closing the sale.
Candidates MUST have knowledge and experience in sales of Machining services to be considered for the role given the nature of the work. Experience in the Defence sector is also a must.
Candidates will ideally be based in the South but will be willing to travel to clients' sites as required.
Hours - Monday - Friday 830AM - 4.30PM
Responsibilities
- Develop new business within the defence sector to expand on the business customer portfolio.
- In conjunction with the Leadership Team, establish Sales objectives to maintain existing sales, achieve market penetration and increase profitability in all targeted sectors.
- Ensuring pricing is competitive and up to date with clear understanding of its position in the marketplace to include market share, maintain and develop competitor analysis database, be actively involved in the development of existing/new products, taking into account existing and future customer requirements and selling features.
- Research and analyse all new product development/Investment requirements are in line with existing and future customer technical and market trends.
- Provide advice to the Directors on what is achievable from a growth standpoint across all market sectors and product groups.
- Ensure plans are in place to determine how we beat the competition over the next 3/5 years.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrable experience in Sales / Business Development within a Machining/ Sub contract machining environment.
- Experienced in seeing quotations through to close of sale.
- Strong knowledge of the defence market.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
