We are currently recruiting for a Senior Production Planner to join an extremely busy Manufacturing Engineering client based North of York. This position has been created due to an increased workload and the client is looking to grow its current team.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a lead capacity within a Production Planning role within an engineering/manufacturing environment, ideally with experience in machining, fabrication, and assembly. The successful candidate will be required to manage all aspects of planning resulting in continuous output. Interested candidates must have a demonstrable background in leading/managing teams and developing planning processes.
Hours: Monday - Thursday 08:30 - 16:30 / Friday 08:30 - 16:00. All overtime paid at premium rates Monday - Sunday.
Role Description:
- Day-to-day responsibility for the Planning team and their development.
- Work with management team to support strategic and operations planning.
- Create and maintain clear lines of communication with Team Leaders, Production Managers, Project Manager, Sales, and Buying teams daily.
- Direct all Master Scheduling activity, incorporating forecasts into Master Production Schedules.
- Generate and update daily, weekly, and monthly production status reports.
- Perform any necessary support functions as required by the procurement process.
- Manage all related MRP maintenance, including resolving problems with Engineering and Receiving and Inspection as necessary.
- Proper and timely implementation of change orders.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels through the active use of MRP and the maintenance of all required parameters including assembly lead times, days supply, EOQ, for all assemblies.
- Active support of R&D and new product activities.
- Analyse data to update staff schedules (Capacity) to reach the agreed quota in the manufacturing process.
- Monitor inventory levels and actively trial kit, whilst reviewing minimum stock order levels and order increments.
- Regularly provide production status updates to senior team whilst implementing and maintaining planning visual management tools.
- Facilitate the timely delivery of products to customers, maintaining OTIF expectations.
- Closely monitor the production process to ensure that production orders are completed on time and within budget.
- MRP maintenance of timings and routings.
- Support the continuous improvement drive throughout the business.
- The creation and maintenance of KPIs.
Skills & Attributes:
- Demonstrable experience within a planning/production controller role within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience in a lead/managerial role (5 years).
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
- Good understanding of an MRP system - ideally MS Dynamics Navision.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook literate.
- Excellent communication skills.
