We are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join an extremely busy Manufacturing Engineering client based North of York. This position has been created due to an increased workload and the client is looking to grow its current team.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a buying/purchasing role within an engineering/manufacturing environment, ideally with experience in international supply chain. The successful candidate will be required to manage all aspects of procurement within the supply base resulting in continuous output. You will need to ensure that all purchase orders are placed to ensure materials arrive in a timely manner to meet demand. CIPS Qualifications are advantageous but not essential.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 0830 - 1630 / Friday 0830 - 1600

Role Description:

  • To ensure timely purchase order placement in line with planned demand for Designated Suppliers.
  • To manage Designated Suppliers cost delivery and quality.
  • To ensure timely receipt of items ordered from Designated Suppliers.
  • Obtain quotations ad-hoc as requested from internal customers, record and return.
  • Expediting un-received orders as required ensuring no late deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively at any level within the business as circumstances dictate.
  • Resolve any query invoices to aid the cash-flow of the business within the month of issue.
  • Perform basic clerical duties within the department.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports as requested by the department manager.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
  • Carry out job-related tasks safely, constantly operating to good working practices.
  • All filing relevant to Designated Suppliers.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Demonstrable experience within a purchasing role within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
  • Good understanding of an MRP system - ideally Navision.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook literate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
