We are recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm & AOV Commissioning Engineer to join a growing life safety business. This is a hands-on role working across client sites, delivering planned commissioning works and responding to emergency callouts when required. The successful engineer will be confident working independently, managing deadlines, and ensuring systems are commissioned safely, compliantly, and to the highest standards.

A strong technical understanding of fan motors, inverters, and detection systems is essential, along with the ability to work across multiple disciplines in live environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission and certify Fire Alarm and AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) systems.
  • Participate in the on-call rota (currently 1 week in every 8).
  • Develop, document, and verify accurate cause & effect strategies.
  • Program, test, and fault-find life safety systems.
  • Read, interpret, and work from technical drawings and site mark-ups.
  • Liaise closely with Design, Project Management, and Maintenance teams.
  • Complete all associated project administration, including timesheets, vehicle checks, and expenses.
  • Finalise commissioning documentation and sign off project certification.
Requirements
  • Proven fire alarm commissioning experience to BS 5839 standards.
  • Experience with advanced life safety systems (desirable but not essential).
  • Previous on-site installation and/or commissioning background.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using digital tools and systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and make informed decisions on site.
  • Comfortable working alone and taking ownership of projects.
  • Full UK driving licence.
