We are looking to appoint an Estimator to support our new business and pre‑construction function and play a key role in securing new work. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially sound tenders, working closely with colleagues, clients, designers and subcontractors throughout the pre‑construction process. This is a hands‑on role that requires organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders at different stages. We understand the pressures that come with estimating and aim to provide a working environment where priorities are clear, workloads are managed sensibly, and effort is recognised. The focus is on producing quality, well‑considered tenders rather than unrealistic turnaround expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates from drawings, specifications and site information
- Managing tender submissions, including labour, materials and subcontractor pricing
- Using estimating software (Causeway experience beneficial, but not essential)
- Attending site visits and pre‑construction meetings as required
- Obtaining, reviewing and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Liaising with design teams during pre‑construction stages
- Supporting cost planning and budget development during design and planning
- Maintaining well‑organised tender documentation and estimating records
- Working closely with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered within agreed budgets
About You
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Estimator (roofing, construction or engineering backgrounds considered)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with good attention to detail
- Experience pricing high‑value projects
- Good understanding of subcontractor and supplier markets
- Confident communicator, able to work with clients, consultants and internal teams
- Proficient in Excel (experience with Eque 2 is beneficial but not essential – training can be provided)
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
- Full UK driving licence
