We are looking for a competent, enthusiastic and organised candidate that can work as part of a team as well as independently to carry out diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on HGV\’s.

You will be responsible for repair, maintenance, MOT and Servicing of company vehicles and trailers working with our Transport Department to co-ordinate tasks by prioritising workload, communicating with the team to deliver a high level standard of repair, whilst ensuring a clean, safe and professional workshop.

DIMENSIONS:

Financial: Hourly paid, regular overtime available

Staff: Working mainly within the CPR transport operation in Dumbarton and site visits, when necessary for vehicle repairs. Roadside Assistance may be required. Working alongside Plant Fitter Technician.

CONTEXT:

Managing your work load day to day by communicating, co-ordinating and prioritising activities through effective communication and planning with the Transport Department

Repair and maintenance of all CPR vehicles and trailers to the highest standard ensuring all vehicles are in good working order and roadworthy

Providing estimates for repairs and setting timescales

Comprehension and completion of all documentation including job / worksheets to ensure compliance

Accurately recording time and writing technical reports and recommendations

Vehicle Breakdown and roadside repairs as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate for this role will be a fully qualified technician, preferably with a minimum of 5 years’ experience and a HGV licence is desirable.

Essential skills include relevant experience in the automotive industry, including previous workshop control or technician roles:

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well with colleagues across other departments both face to face, on the telephone and via email.

High organisational skills with the ability to think of feet. City and Guilds full craft certificate in HGV Vehicle Mechanics, or equivalent.

Full valid, UK Driving Licence (or European equivalent) with LGV Category C entitlement.

Experience of working and carrying out inspections, servicing and repairs on a mixed fleet of vehicles.

Literate, including basic IT skills – to use, interrogate, update and retrieve data from the Fleet

Management System and other forms of electronic equipment.

Working knowledge of appropriate Health and Safety Legislation.

Possession of own hand tools for work purposes.

Desired skills include previous experience of a supervisory position in workshop environment and good understanding of DVSA and health and safety compliance. Able to carry out welding and fabrication works as necessary.
